Why Israel Struck the Iranian Consulate in Damascus


The Israeli raid on Iranian targets in the heart of Syria is part of ongoing regional negotiations. The sensational attack last April 1st on an Iranian consular office in Damascus – attributed to Israel and in which, among others, a high-ranking member of the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards was killed – occurs during a phase of the Middle Eastern conflict marked by intense negotiation activity among the parties.
